The Georgian-period 1757 Grade II listed building is located in the heart of Mayfair in close proximity to the Dorchester Hotel and Hyde Park.
10 Stanhope Gate had been used as a commercial office for the past 20 years and the project was to reinstate the property into a single residence. Ridge carried out a sustainability appraisal during the design stage to comply with local planning policies.
Energy efficiency measures, including improved U-values and high-efficiency plant, were incorporated into the design. Calculations show an improvement of 46% on annual estimated CO2 emissions when comparing the newly refurbished building to the old building.
Works included installation of underfloor heating and comfort cooling throughout, provided by a high-efficiency Variable Refrigerant Flow heat pumps.
It was a challenge to integrate the new building services into the existing fabric of a listed building, but collaborative working between Ridge, the architect and interior designers ensured a seamless installation.
