The Georgian-period 1757 Grade II listed building is located in the heart of Mayfair in close proximity to the Dorchester Hotel and Hyde Park.
10 Stanhope Gate had been used as a commercial office for the past 20 years and the project was to reinstate the property into a single residence. Ridge carried out a sustainability appraisal during the design stage to comply with local planning policies.
Energy efficiency measures, including improved U-values and high-efficiency plant, were incorporated into the design. Calculations show an improvement of 46% on annual estimated CO2 emissions when comparing the newly refurbished building to the old building.
Works included installation of underfloor heating and comfort cooling throughout, provided by a high-efficiency Variable Refrigerant Flow heat pumps.
It was a challenge to integrate the new building services into the existing fabric of a listed building, but collaborative working between Ridge, the architect and interior designers ensured a seamless installation.

The lighting control, audio, visual, door access and security are all integrated together with the systems also linking to the Building Management Systems to control the mechanical plant.
To ensure best value for the project, comparisons with varying types of systems have been conducted, Crestron, Control 4, KMX and Lutron have all been considered as a solution.
