Beech Court is a new construction at Abingdon School in Oxford to provide a Sixth Form centre, new library and a new suite for the art department.
The new 2000sqm 3-storey building was provided to meet the ever-increasing demand for dedicated sixth form space, and to allow the library to continue to respond to the progression of learning techniques.
The location of the new centre made the construction process challenging. The site abuts and connects to an existing occupied building. However the difficult access, archaeological constraints, tree preservation issues and service diversions were overcome.
To complete in time for the start of the academic year, Ridge adopted a two-stage tender process to provide assurance in programme and to obtain early input from key subcontract packages.
