Blue Light – Hungerford Fire StationBerkshire

Ridge have experience of working in the blue light sector for numerous police, ambulance and fire authorities, including Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) on the Hungerford Fire Station scheme. Other blue light clients currently include Wiltshire, Gloucester and Avon and Somerset Police and South-Central Ambulance Service.

The Hungerford tri-service station was the first in a RBFRS programme of redevelopment and has set the benchmark for the client’s corporate initiative to place fire stations at the heart of communities and to provide 21st century facilities.

To incorporate the conflicting interfaces of fire service, police service and community use in the design, we leveraged our experience of engaging with multiple client-side stakeholders to implement detailed design requirements and deliver a fully operational station.

As well as upgrades to the existing building, new amenities have been added for the benefit of the staff, and for use by members of the public for civic activities.

Through our efforts to improve collaboration with our blue light partners, RBFRS will be able to deliver a higher quality and more efficient service. This project has demonstrated that by careful preparation and close cooperation by all the partners, we can provide so much more.
