Fairfield is an independent care home for the active elderly. The new development was constructed within the grounds of the existing facility, a large Victorian house, which had been extended over the years.
A new purpose-built facility for the elderly was designed to the client’s specification. The new Fairfield comprises three blocks of single, 2 and 3-storeys, which accommodate 38 spacious en-suite rooms and accessible group living spaces, as well as staff offices, a kitchen and laundry area.
The Ridge engineering scope of service was classed as ‘Abridged’ duties and the M&E team took the scheme to Stage 3, including Part L compliance. The M&E design included the installation of two lifts and a combined heat and power unit (CHP).
As the project progressed, Ridge worked for the contractor, reviewing and assisting with the full detailed design.
