Pressure from local action groups led to an initial refusal of the proposed scheme. This is a greenfield site formerly in the green belt.
Our role and services
The planning team at Ridge were responsible for the decision to release the site and the accompanying land from the green belt. The team provided advice on a planning strategy, which progressed to preparation, submission and project management of a hybrid application. The management of the application included public consultation and extensive negotiations with officers. Despite a positive officer recommendation at Committee, the application was refused.
The Ridge team led an appeal providing evidence at the inquiry. An application for an award of costs was also submitted by Ridge.
Planning permission was granted on appeal and won an award for costs against the council.
