Ridge was appointed to undertake Principal Designer services for the delivery phase of the scheme.
Ridge reviewed the existing design proposals and identified areas which needed to be revisited. This included a review of existing site surveys to identify any gaps in information and flag up previously unidentified site hazards.
In conjunction with the new principal contractor, Ridge assisted in developing the construction phase plan to permit works to restart on site. Ridge regularly attends design and project team meetings as design works are ongoing throughout the project. Monthly inspections are carried out and formal reports are issued following onsite reviews of the principal contractor’s health and safety management.
Ridge advises the site management and client team of any observed shortcomings in the management of health and safety on site.
Ridge continues to provide ongoing advice, notably the Work at Height requirements, due to the extensive excavations and scaffold works. It is a large site with high numbers of operatives and requires a high degree of coordination between the client and project teams.
