The first phase in one of Edinburgh’s city centre regeneration projects, providing high-quality PRS apartments, health and wellbeing facilities, and virtual sports simulators.

Ridge is providing BIM Information Management and BIM Coordination services as a direct appointment to the client, Moda Living. Springside is part of the re-development masterplan of a former brewery site in the Fountainbridge area of the city. The six-storey apartment block arranged in a C-shape will contain 221 homes plus state-of-the-art communal facilities and terraces overlooking the city. Through our work on other Moda Living schemes across the country, a key part of our role is to lead the implementation of BIM processes with each design team to consistently align with the client’s strategic objectives.

Initial activities involved agreeing the principles and processes with the design team by compiling the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), which aligned with the contents of the Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR). Key activities during the project include hosting BIM Workshops to feedback results from federating, reviewing, and performing clash detection on the design team models. Ridge also led the development and collation of data deliverables (COBie) through these forums. At major project milestones, Ridge compiled a report to demonstrate BIM maturity of the project and highlight any key issues for the client to consider ahead of progressing into the next project stage.

Through experience of working with Moda Living on other projects across the UK, Ridge was able to drive a consistent approach to utilising BIM across multiple schemes. This, combined with enhanced coordination and collaboration ahead of major milestones along with consistent deliverables, both reduced risk and improved quality.
