Site details and constraints

The lower high street is Cheltenham’s oldest district, predating its Regency era developments. The site was occupied by a 1960s block, which severed the lower high street from The Brewery.

 

Our role and services

  • Extensive collaboration with Cheltenham Development Task Force on the scheme, together with relevant officers from Cheltenham Borough Council.
  • The Ridge planning team led all planning aspects of the project from inception through to the discharging of planning conditions.
  • The team also worked closely with the Council’s planning policy and development management teams; helping to inform emerging policy and securing the relevant consents, permissions and approvals.

Outcomes

The Brewery project was completed in 2016 and now comprises new retail space, hotel, residential apartments and a new pedestrian link through to Cheltenham’s lower high street.

The approved development is providing a catalyst for further regeneration projects within the wider area helping the Borough to deliver its wider Retail Strategy and Civic Pride plans.
