Site details and constraints
This is a physically constrained site leading to transportation issues such as parking and turning. It is also a site with height constraints, flood risk and contamination.
Our role and services
The planning team at Ridge led the proposal throughout the planning process, providing clear and effective advice on a unique and rapidly evolving project. The team worked closely with Nottingham City Council and a team of specialist consultants to achieve a deliverable scheme, which will enhance the area and act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the remaining Trent Waterside area.
The planning team at Ridge was able to demonstrate that site specific circumstances justified a departure from the policy requirements for affordable housing due to viability issues.
The team at Ridge has a track record of involvement in the Waterside Regeneration project, a development that stretches out over 250 acres of land making it one of the biggest in Europe. In 2015, the planning team at Ridge obtained permission for a mixed use development including retail, apartments and café floor space.
Outcomes
Connecting city life and riverfront living, the permission, known as Trent Bridge Quays, represents a new neighbourhood of low-energy contemporary homes and apartments on the banks of the River Trent. The site, being within close proximity to the railway station and the city centre, represents a sustainable location. This approval will act as a catalyst for the western end of the Waterside regeneration.
