Following the launch of our new lighting discipline and the appointment of Andrew Bissell last October to head up the team, we’re thrilled to welcome two new lighting designers to Ridge.
Tim Gurl joins as Senior Lighting Designer, bringing 15 years’ experience in lighting design that spans theatre, architecture, luxury installations and consultancy. Joining Ridge from Lighting Design International (LDI), Tim has vast experience of lighting ultra-high-end residential projects, five and six-star hotels around the world, and super yachts – working with some of the leading global interior design, architecture and marine architecture practices. Having relocated from London, Tim is based in our Manchester office and will work closely with the team to deliver lighting designs across our sectors.
Speaking of his appointment, Tim said:
“To be part of something at the very beginning of its journey is very rare in the lighting industry, so to help create a new lighting team and service from scratch – with the incredible expertise that we already have at Ridge – is an exciting challenge.”
Based in our Reading office, James Mosses joins the team as Lighting Designer. James isn’t new to Ridge, having worked with the Reading Building Services Engineering (MEP) team on various façade and theatre lighting projects since 2021. He joined the newly formed lighting team in October and has been promoted to the role of Lighting Designer.
Having graduated in Architectural Technology, James’ experience includes a placement at Satore Studios where he built his skills in Revit and worked on the lighting design of the Madison Square Garden (MSG) Sphere venues in Vegas and London. At Ridge, he works on a range of arena, hotel and theatre developments and has supported key projects including the Royal Opera House, Alexandra Palace, and Oldham Gallery, as well as an eco-tourism scheme in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking of his appointment, James said:
“Lighting is very visual. It’s what people see, and it stimulates a response. To be able to create our own designs and have the opportunity to leave a mark on projects is what really excites me.”
Tim and James will work with the existing lighting team and help grow the geographic reach of our lighting discipline.
Andrew Bissell, Partner and head of our Lighting Team, said:
“Tim and James are already fully immersed in our existing projects and as we grow, their strong presence in their specific sectors will be invaluable.”
Thank you for signing up. We look forward to sharing updates with you
