Latest Planning Matters Seminar: Importance of Good Design and how it is achieved.

20 May 2022

An informative afternoon was had by all at the latest Planning Matters Forum, which focused on the importance of good design in new projects. Hosted by Ridge and Charles Russell Speechlys, the event was held at the prestigious Queen’s Hotel, Cheltenham. The Gloucestershire Design Panel provided several lively speakers, including Paul Fong (Ridge), David Jones (Evans Jones), Edward Turner (Pegasus Group), Jonathan Nettleton (Blake Architects), Toby Coombes (Coombes Everitt) and Helen McHollan (Illman Young). Engaging discussions were centred on policy background, masterplanning and urban design, approaches to architecture, landscape design and sustainability. Particular projects which were discussed included proposed new towns at Sharpness, Gloucestershire and Shipton in Oxfordshire both of which are currently being led by the Ridge planning team.

The chosen topics were particularly relevant given the Government’s continuing objective of ensuring good design in all new development.

We are planning to host our next Planning Matters Seminar towards the end of summer. For more details please contact Anne Pawsey (apawsey@ridge.co.uk)
