The first award was for Best Multidiscipline Property and Construction Consultancy at the Midlands Enterprise Awards which recognised, among other things, the Ridge flagship 360Sustainability service. Ridge works with clients at a strategic level to develop sustainability strategies, understanding what is most relevant to the business and enabling them to demonstrate their response to climate change. The award also recognised their specialist expertise in Advanced Manufacturing and Technical Facilities, as well as Social Housing.
The team has also scooped the Project of the Year at the Constructing Excellence Awards for their work on the world class £9.5million new headquarters building for their client CABI. CABI is a not-for-profit international organisation that improves people’s lives by addressing problems in agriculture and the environment around the world, so it was vital that design principles were fully integrated with minimal impact on the surrounding environment. This high-profile, landmark development was recognised by the judges as an outstanding project providing office and residential space with low impact, low-carbon design principles.
This month has also seen Ridge client Britishvolt receive a huge boost by obtaining planning permission to regenerate part of the former Blyth Power Station in Northumberland into the UK’s first battery Gigaplant. With a gross internal floor area of 386,000m², it will have the capacity to produce 300,000 batteries per annum for the Electric Vehicle market. Ridge successfully led the planning application process with a unique, fully coordinated approach including Planning Consultancy, PMO Programme & Project Management, Architecture, Sustainability, Digital Engineering, Land & Building Surveying, Health & Safety and Principal Designer services.
Jolyon Price, Equity Partner at Ridge said:
“What an amazing month it has been for our team in Birmingham. I am so proud of every single member of the team and how well they have worked together in achieving such success. Our two award wins are testament to their hard work.
Award wins mean a lot to us but perhaps even more rewarding is achieving success for our clients. Obtaining Planning Approval for Britishvolt marks a major landmark towards the successful completion of the Gigaplant and we are proud to have helped Britishvolt achieve this. Our multidiscipline approach enabled us to understand all the implications in the space between the building, equipment and advanced technical engineering processes. We are privileged to be working together with Britishvolt on such an incredible project bringing world-class leading technology and jobs for the Northumberland region and the UK.”
