New Accommodation for the Elderly in Watlington – Oxfordshire
22 July 2020
On behalf of Beechcroft Homes Ltd, Ridge planning team is delighted to have obtained planning permission for 37 retirement homes, a 54 bedroomed care home and 4 staff flats.
The site was of considerable heritage interest as it affected the setting of two Conservations Areas; the Shirburn Conservation Area and the Pyroton Conservation Area, in addition to a number of listed buildings, including Shirburn Castle and its associated Registered Park and Garden.
Ridge led the application team which, given the constraints of the site, necessitated considerable input from a heritage aspect in addition to the planning issues. Engagement was undertaken with both Pyrton and Watlington Parish Councils prior to the application of the proposal, and Ridge led the necessary amendments to address the concerns raised.
Once the application had been submitted, Ridge continued to monitor the application and engaged closely with the Local Planning Authority (South Oxfordshire District Council), resulting in the submission of a number of amendments during the determination period.
Planning permission was finally granted in July 2020 by the Planning Committee.
