New Homes for Twigworth.

27 October 2020

Ridge planning team is delighted to have obtained planning permission for 74 dwellings, incorporating 40% affordable, at Twigworth.

Forming part of a strategic allocation, the greenfield site was the subject of an outline permission for residential development.  The planning team at Ridge was instructed by Wainhomes to prepare, submit and monitor an application for the approval of reserved matters for the dwellings.  Ridge led a multidisciplinary team which addressed matters relating to drainage, flooding, landscape, design and heritage assets, transportation, ecology and design.  This necessitated extensive negotiation, including pre-application meetings with both the Local Planning Authority and the Parish Council, which continued during the consideration of the application.

The design and layout of the scheme evolved through a series of revised plans resulting in a high-quality designed development, which was influenced by the local vernacular in terms of materials and detailing.   The approved scheme, which will provide an equipped play area, incorporates a variety of house types relating to size, type and scale.  It will provide for a net biodiversity gain which includes a green corridor, a drainage betterment and significant landscape improvements.
