Lara Dennison and Ian Ravenhall, who both started working at Ridge on the very same day in November 2013, take up posts as Equity Partners, increasing their responsibility for client service and driving new business, as well as acquiring and retaining talent.
Lara leads the Building Surveying team based in the Ridge London office and has seen the office grow from 20 to over 60 in the last seven years. Lara is passionate about strengthening and growing the disciplines offered by the Ridge team in London, as well as increasing the diversity of the offering, in terms of sectors and workstreams, placing a high value on people with different skills and experience enabling better client service. She brings a progressive attitude to solving client’s challenges and enjoys the variety her role demands, working on large scale regeneration projects in the public sector including for key housing clients in Haringey and Tower Hamlets, in education, the healthcare sector and local government.
Ian leads the Building Services Engineering team in the Ridge Birmingham office and is looking forward playing a more active role in leading the business. Ian has seen Ridge double in size in the time he has been at the company and is focussed now on achieving even further growth, with particular interest in how building design can influence behaviour and lead to better solutions in terms of environmental impact. He is currently working on a large education project, Eden Boys School, as well as on commercial projects in Chamberlain Sq and a residential led scheme for Dandara. Ian previously worked at One Creative Environments in Worcester, and also ran his own business for 9 years.
The appointment of Nick Hayes to the Ridge team recognises the increasing importance of sustainable development, on a practical level in terms of ensuring buildings meet regulation, but also in helping clients take a more strategic approach. Approaching a new project with a focus on sustainability from the outset can create improved outcomes – in terms of compliance, financial benefit, for corporate reputation and, ultimately, for the environment.
Nick has been doing this successfully for clients for many years, having run his own ‘Green Management Consultancy’ business, Strategic Green, and also whilst working at BRE and as Head of Sustainability at EC Harris, and later, Arcadis. Most recently, with Ridge, Nick is working with Britishvolt on a new “Gigafactory” to produce electric car batteries, advising how their buildings can best embody their company values by embracing sustainability, as part of the Green Industrial Revolution.
The addition of Nick to the team means that Ridge can both help clients devise strategy, as well as deliver the services required to achieve it – by drawing on teams from disciplines across Ridge including project & cost management, architecture, surveying, design, engineering and health & safety.
Adrian O’Hickey, Senior Partner at Ridge said:
These appointments signify our confidence in these fantastic members of our team, but also our confidence in the future of our business. Lara and Ian will be a driving force in our London and Birmingham offices – focussing on extending the services we offer from these locations and building even stronger teams. Nick will strengthen our existing sustainability offer in a new direction – with his passion for ensuring sustainable thinking sits at the very heart of every project. It is this creative and dynamic spirit, thinking differently and thriving in the face of a challenge, that makes us so proud of our team, and excited for the future.
