Part Z – a much-needed addition to the Building Regulations

26 July 2022

Ridge fully supports the proposed, and much-needed, Part Z amendment to the Building Regulations.

Part Z outlines proposed requirements for the assessment of whole-life-carbon emissions, and limiting embodied carbon emissions, for all major building projects. More information on the proposed amendment can be found here: Part Z (part-z.uk)

Over the past few years, Ridge has helped many project teams measure and, more importantly, understand the impacts of their designs, and we believe that the industry is now ready to embrace the proposed regulations. The implementation of Part Z will be a great step towards meeting the Government’s Net Zero targets.

Ridge believes Part Z will provide a crucial legislative framework within which to progress towards carbon neutrality. We encourage clients and partners to familiarise themselves with the proposals, which we believe will soon be a necessary consideration for any major building project.
