Ridge wins at national Highways Awards

24 October 2022

Our delivery of the Bramhall Park to A6 cycle and walkway scheme in Stockport picked up the ‘Active Travel Scheme of the Year’ award at the 2022 Highways Awards.

Held at London’s Park Plaza hotel, and hosted by stand-up comedian Ed Byrne, the awards celebrated the finest transport and mobility schemes in the country.

The £7 million pound project is the largest segregated cycle route in Stockport and forms part of the Greater Manchester ‘Bee Network’. The 4.1km route was delivered with Stockport Council and was designed to boost local walking and cycling journeys. It also offers cyclists a new, safer path that better protects them from vehicle traffic.

The new route helps to connect local communities, creating a sustainable link to local schools, shops, leisure facilities, workplaces, and public transport. It also saw the addition of over 100 new trees to enhance biodiversity and create a green streetscape. Working alongside Stockport Council and its contractor George Cox & Sons, we provided Project and Programme Management on the scheme.

We are proud to have been working with Stockport Council’s highways team over several years, providing Project and Programme Management support across numerous improvement programmes including its Town Centre Access Plan, Stockport Interchange, and its Cycling and Walking schemes through the Mayors Challenge Fund.
