Ridge wins two National Building and Construction Awards

18 November 2022

We are delighted that Ridge, and our Greyfriars Church project in Reading, have won National Building and Construction Awards, the ceremony for which took place at the Hilton London Wembley on Thursday 17 November.

Greyfriars won Gold in the Project of the Year (up to £10 million) category, in which our Winchester Hospice/Burrell House and Trinity Winchester Bradbury View projects were also finalists.

Ridge then won the night’s main award as ‘Overall Winner’.

Ridge provided multidisciplinary services on the Greyfriars Church project, which replaced the inappropriate 1970s-constructed front foyer of Reading’s 14th century, Grade I-listed Greyfriars Church as well as repurposing two dilapidated Victorian terraced houses and constructing architecturally sympathetic new-build facilities.

The old foyer detracted from the beautiful church and hid its architectural heritage. The transparent new atrium allows the church walls to be seen again and provides a welcoming space, including a café, bookshop and lounge for events or socialising. Phase two of the project is now underway. Ridge is working on behalf of Greyfriars Church alongside Ash Contracting and JBKS Architects.

Congratulations to our Reading and Winchester teams, and to our clients and partners on these great projects, for these well-deserved nominations and awards.
