Talent and expertise take the lead for Ridge as it announces a significant investment partnership

27 April 2023

Multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy Ridge and Partners LLP has secured significant investment from Horizon Capital LLP, a private equity investor in technology and professional services.

Horizon’s investment will support Ridge to deliver the next phase of its vision, clearly focused on ‘Quality, Innovation and Growth’. This sets the scene for the top priority of the business which is to expand expertise and nurture talent in a progressive way.

This strategy has undoubtably been a success for Ridge. The business has grown from 577 people turning over £61 million in 2020, to 1,000 employees in 2023. The latest forecast for turnover is now at £105 million across the recently expanded 12 UK offices.

Ridge has made strategic acquisitions in the last three years that have complemented the company’s existing practices and developed new services. Scott Hughes Design and Projex amongst others have enhanced the company’s track record of delivering strong client relationships.

This will continue as Ridge invests in talent across its core disciplines as well as through new acquisitions. These areas of opportunity will be driven by the digital revolution, sustainability and social impact agendas as the experts at Ridge support the constant change in the way we all live, work and learn.

Adrian O’Hickey, senior partner at Ridge said:

This is a transformational deal for Ridge – a catalyst for some of the most ambitious changes in our strategy. We’ve already been successful in turning up the dial on this business, introducing new initiatives and developing our people. We want to continue that progress, with the benefit of new investment, while maintaining our core values of quality, collaboration and agility all the way.

Luke Kingston, managing partner at Horizon Capital said:

Horizon is providing the first institutional capital to Ridge in its 75-year history. Its partners have already taken opportunities for sustained growth in recent years, and we will help them to be even more ambitious in the firms and talent they reach out to.

This professional expertise will be vital in the next few years as the UK upgrades its infrastructure and brings its building stock up to net zero standards. The winners in this market should be the consultants who have the trust of their clients and a track record of maintaining the highest standards throughout their businesses.

Founded in Oxford in 1946, Ridge celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary in 2021.
