Two new dwellings for a Cotswold village.

27 October 2022

On behalf of a private client, the planning team at Ridge is delighted to have secured planning permission for two additional dwellings on a site located on the edge of the Cotswold village of Ewen, near Cirencester.

The subject site, which has an extant permission for one dwelling, is located in a sensitive position being on the edge of a conservation area and affecting the setting of a number of listed buildings. Furthermore, the site is particularly sensitive in terms of ecology as it is currently largely covered in trees.

Working closely with Hawkes Architecture and Davies Landscape Architects, the proposal was landscape led, formed from a desire to enhance and better manage the immediate landscape through proposed ecology, landscape and environmental enhancements. Ridge presented a robust case demonstrating that the proposal incorporated a highly innovative and sustainable design which complements the setting of the extant scheme. The planning team successfully argued that the proposal was consistent with all layers of planning policy.

Ridge was responsible for the preparation of the application, which included pre-app discussions with the Council, and its submission and negotiation through to a positive conclusion.
