Charterhouse School – New Maths and Science Block Godalming

Ridge was appointed to deliver a new Science and Mathematics building for Charterhouse School. A world-class learning environment which will encourage inter-disciplinary collaboration with Science, Mathematics and Computing.

Following careful appraisal of various options, the School had drawn up plans for a new Science and Maths Centre delivered in three phases.

  • Phase 1: the construction of a new Chemistry wing
  • Phases 2 and 3: the complete redevelopment of the existing buildings to house Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science

Ridge was appointed at the outset of the project and assisted with the appointment of the project team and managed the design approach. This included obtaining Planning approval and Listed buildings consent for all three phases.

Ridge led a detailed and thorough stakeholder consultation process to ensure the requirements of the Science and Maths building were fully integrated into the design. Ridge managed the detail design, procurement and final selection of contractor to deliver the works.

The design sympathetically integrated the existing listed teaching buildings with the new block, providing a new Quad and Colonnade.
