Ronald McDonald House London

Construction of Ronald McDonald House, a purpose-built facility to house families of seriously ill children, on short or long stay, whilst their children are receiving treatment and primary care at Evelina London Children’s Hospital (which forms part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust).

Ronald McDonald House consists of 60 en-suite family rooms, arranged over four floors with each floor containing accessible bedrooms, kitchens, laundry and dining rooms. The third floor has access to a 100m² roof garden. On the ground floor, there is a dedicated apartment for night staff, secure reception area, administration offices, meeting rooms and further communal space, which leads out into a secure garden. Ronald McDonald House is situated next to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lambeth Palace, across the Archbishop’s Park from ‘Evelina’.

Ridge remained mindful of the sensitivities of the area and careful liaison with the Palace and Parks authorities was required whilst working on the planning, designing, procurement and construction phases of the scheme.
