University of Oxford – Institute for Development and Regenerative Medicine Oxford

A team of Project Managers at Ridge worked from feasibility to completion on this three-storey 6,000 sqm scientific research facility, for the University of Oxford’s Medical Sciences Division.

The Institute of the Developmental and Regenerative Medicine (IDRM) provides laboratory and office space for collaborative working and brings together over 200 world-leading researchers and scientists from different cardiovascular, neuroscience and immunology groups.

Ridge developed the programme, advised on procurement and appointed the project team while managing many stakeholders throughout the complex process. We worked closely with key players from the University’s academic and estates departments, involving them in design and strategic decisions. This resulted in a well-resolved building design that addresses many operational issues and targeted the Passivhaus standard of energy efficiency. We identified opportunities to challenge existing University protocols to improve value. The outcomes and benefits were clearly defined and focused on cost certainty.
