RAF Akrotiri required a modern passenger and freight terminal – resilient, sustainable and future-ready – to replace outdated 1960s facilities and support growing operational demands.

We were appointed as design partner to the principal contractor, The Cyprus Services Provider Joint Venture (CSP), providing interdisciplinary detailed design for the £70 million development.

Design leadership and integrated expertise

Working closely with the project team, our consultants are delivering seismic compliant structures, optimised passenger flow, expanded security and immigration facilities, and a dedicated aeromedical area. Our sustainability strategy is built into every design decision, covering whole life carbon, energy efficiency and DREAM.

Solar control glazing, intelligent lighting, solar PV, EV charging, rainwater harvesting and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) in the car park help the terminal meet ambitious environmental and operational goals.

A modern, high-performance terminal

Due to complete in 2027, the terminal will strengthen RAF Akrotiri’s operational capability while improving passenger and freight experience. Future proof systems keep movement efficient and safe, helping the base handle modern aircraft with confidence.

Setting a new standard for military infrastructure

The new terminal combines modern design, durability, energy performance and seismic resilience. By streamlining operations and embedding sustainability from day one, the project sets a benchmark for military aviation facilities and supports the UK’s strategic capability.
