Rockhampton Regional Council in Queensland wanted to create a long-term home for motorsport that could grow with the region and bring local clubs together.

The ambition was a flexible precinct that balanced professional standards with everyday usability for the community.

Planning a motorsport destination for the region

Existing facilities across the region were becoming constrained, fragmented or no longer fit for purpose. The new precinct needed to create room for multiple disciplines while allowing space for future growth.

We delivered architecture, masterplanning, civil engineering, visualisation and race track design services, working closely with Rockhampton Regional Council and local clubs throughout the process. The masterplan includes a 3.2km FIA Grade 3 circuit with integrated rallycross, alongside a drag strip, kart track, dirt oval, driver training facilities and off-road 4x4 courses.

Our team also carried out detailed technical assessments to confirm the suitability of the Bouldercombe site and support future delivery decisions.

Bringing clubs together through one shared vision

Designing for different forms of motorsport meant balancing technical requirements with the practical needs of local users.

Working closely with clubs helped shape a precinct that feels flexible, accessible and built around the people who will use it most. Bringing disciplines together within a single masterplan also improves efficiency and creates opportunities for shared infrastructure and future events.

Building foundations for future growth

The proposed precinct creates more than new race facilities. It establishes a long-term destination designed to support participation, attract events and strengthen the region’s motorsport community.
