Construction of a new lifeboat station at Selsey to house a new all-weather Shannon-class lifeboat and an inshore D-class lifeboat.
The Shannon-class lifeboat, and its launching rig, is the most modern lifeboat in the RNLI’s fleet. It is a water-jet driven craft, capable of high speeds and excellent maneuverability. The D-class is used for near-shore rescues.
The new station building includes boathouses for both lifeboats, their launching rigs, modern crew facilities (workshop, changing room and training room), as well as visitor areas and an RNLI shop.
The project has been nominated for various awards and won the 2018 RICS South, ‘Community Benefit’ award. Ridge is appointed to the RNLI’s professional consultant’s framework for Quantity Surveying services.
