Negotiations with both Swanley Town Council and Sevenoaks District Council have been key at an early stage of the project, to ensure the scheme meets the needs of the community, and also integrates with the Council’s town centre master plan.
The project seeks to make use of existing under-utilised car parking space and develop into usable space. A key constraint is to maintain the existing level of available town centre parking, as well as access for existing residents and retail service vehicles throughout the construction period.
The construction phasing of this project has been an important early consideration. The project is required to maintain parking and access to the existing facilities, whilst meeting both the Local Authority’s constraints and the client’s requirements.
Negotiations with Network Rail have commenced to agree constraints and working methods for construction adjacent to the railway.
