James Birchall is a Chartered Structural Engineer (IStructE) and expert witness known for his considered judgement, assiduous attention to detail, and efficient approach to complex structural disputes. He brings over a decade of experience in the design and assessment of steel, concrete, timber and masonry structures across commercial, residential and institutional sectors, working with industry‑leading consultancies throughout the UK.

James’ recent instructions include expert support on a range of complex UK and international construction disputes. James has carried out forensic assessments and produced expert reports on claims involving numbers concrete and steel frames for adjudication and litigation.

James has also delivered forensic engineering services on a range of insurance‑related construction claims, working closely with loss adjusters, insurers and legal teams to provide clear, evidence‑based opinions.
