James is an associate partner and Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with experience delivering refurbishment, new build and alteration projects across defence, security, public sector and international government estates.

He works in some of the most sensitive and secure environments, leading multidisciplinary teams and helping clients navigate technical and contractual requirements. He specialises in NEC and JCT project management, risk management and technical building surveying, and he regularly acts as project lead and employer’s agent.

His international experience includes seismic remedial works at the British High Commission in Karachi and the refurbishment of the British Embassy in Lisbon, both delivered for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) under NEC contracts. In the UK, he worked on Ministry of Defence single living accommodation across two sites, specialist facilities for QinetiQ, and a major roof replacement programme for the UK Atomic Energy Authority.

Known for his calm and structured approach, James combines strong technical knowledge with practical judgement and clear communication, particularly where risk, security and stakeholder requirements need careful management. He also holds security clearance that enables rapid mobilisation for overseas assignments and serves as deputy security controller at Ridge.
