James has 28 years in the field of transport planning consultancy, working for several major transport planning consultancies before forming his own independent consultancy in 2006 and growing the business, alongside his business partner Gerard, to 17 staff before being acquired by Ridge and Partners in May 2026. After starting in local authority, James has since specialised in supporting residential and commercial development projects, gaining experience in all aspects of transport planning including site evaluation and access appraisals, Transport Assessments and Travel Plans, as well as public consultation and expert witness work at Public Inquiries. His portfolio of projects includes the Wedgwood Factory redevelopment (and enabling residential development) in Stoke-on-Trent, Rugby Free School, Keresley SUE, JCB factory extension in Rocester, and multiple Severn Trent Water PLC sites across the UK.
