Lucy Osborne

Lucy Osborne is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Institution of Arbitrators, with more than 30 years’ experience as a Structural Engineer. She is a seasoned expert witness, has been cross examined numerous times in the UK and overseas, and is known for her composed presence, technical depth, and tactful handling of complex construction disputes. Lucy leads Ridge’s technical expert witness team which has a reputation for excellence and being current due to being immersed in a live project practice.

Her career spans structural design, project management, and dispute resolution – including six years in Dubai – with expertise in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures. Lucy is regularly instructed in high-profile international arbitrations and litigation across the UK, Gulf States, Greece, Scotland, Southeast Asia and Australia. She has been cross-examined by leading KCs, participated in hot-tubbing, and presented expert evidence to tribunals with clarity and poise.

Lucy’s instructions frequently involve assessing adequacy of design, the impact of design changes and coordination issues on the design phases, fabrication and construction; and evaluating compliance with technical standards and professional duties. She is valued for her ability to deal with large matters, complex technical issues and meticulous approach.

She holds a CPE in Law, completed a mini pupillage at Atkin Chambers, and was awarded a major scholarship by Middle Temple Inn of Court – reflecting her ability to bridge engineering expertise with an ability to strongly articulate opinion.
