MotoFest Coventry wanted to do something the UK had not seen in decades – bring competitive motorsport back to the public streets.
The challenge was creating a circuit that felt exciting for drivers and spectators while still working safely within a live city centre.
Designing a circuit for the heart of the city
We delivered race track design and civil engineering services for the closed-road sprint course, guiding the layout through design development and licensing approval.
Designing a competitive circuit within Coventry city centre required careful coordination from the outset. Roads still needed to function around the event. Access points had to be maintained. Safety barriers, run-off areas and viewing locations all had to fit within an already busy urban environment.
Working closely with MotoFest, Motorsport UK and the British Automobile Racing Club, we developed a compliant track layout and produced the formal drawings needed for
approval.
The programme was tight ahead of the inaugural 2018 event, so keeping decisions clear and practical made a big difference.
A new chapter for UK street racing
The completed sprint course helped reintroduce competitive street motorsport to the UK in a format that feels accessible, exciting and closely connected to the city around it.
Since the first event, MotoFest Coventry has grown into an established fixture on the motorsport calendar, drawing competitors and crowds back to the city year after year. From first layout sketches to race weekend, the aim stayed the same – create a street circuit that people would want to come back to.
