Graham Sant joins as a partner to strengthen the national leadership of our engineering and environmental infrastructure services.

Graham brings more than 35 years’ experience of engineering consultancy and the leadership and delivery of major infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally. Based in Manchester but working nationally, he will oversee a team spanning civil engineering, transport planning, pre-planning, flood risk, geo-environmental and geotechnical services.

By bringing these disciplines together, Graham will support our ambition to take a leading role on major infrastructure projects across transport, energy, water, data centres, strategic land and defence. His remit will encompass the engineering and environmental expertise needed to plan, design and deliver complex projects, helping clients address technical challenges through coordinated, practical advice.

Major infrastructure expertise

During his career, Graham has led and advised on major programmes including HS2, Radlett Strategic Rail Freight Interchange, National Highways CDF Framework, Environment Agency’s FCERM Framework National Grid’s Feeder 9 gas pipeline beneath the Humber and the A50 South Derby Growth Zone.

Graham will build on our existing expertise, which has been strategically expanded over the past two years to grow our infrastructure offer through the acquisitions of civil and structural engineering consultancy Jubb and transport planning specialist HUB.

A joined-up approach to infrastructure planning, design and delivery

Graham will work closely with Steve Williams, who joined us as Head of Infrastructure earlier this year. Graham will lead the engineering and environmental disciplines involved in infrastructure delivery, while Steve focuses on programme and project management, project controls and cost management. The two teams will collaborate on client development, bids and project pipelines, enabling Ridge to combine technical design with the management and delivery of complex programmes

On joining Ridge, Graham said:

There is already impressive engineering and environmental expertise across Ridge. The opportunity now is to build on that expertise and establish Ridge more firmly in the major projects arena.”

“My focus is on bringing those disciplines together to solve our clients’ infrastructure challenges from pre-planning to design, whether that’s civil engineering and transport planning, or flood risk, geotechnical and geo-environmental advice.

“I have spent more than 35 years working in infrastructure in the UK and internationally, and I know that successful projects depend on good people from different disciplines working as one team. Ridge has the breadth, independence and practical approach to do that well. My ambition is to turn those strengths into a clearer and more compelling offer – especially for larger, more complex commissions.”

Supporting clients through complex infrastructure challenges

Andy Cleevely, Partner in Civil and Structural Engineering at Ridge, said:

Major projects increasingly require coordinated thinking across design, planning, environmental risk and delivery.”

“Graham’s practical approach, and his understanding of how those disciplines need to work together, will strengthen our ability to manage that complexity and take a leading role in delivering major infrastructure projects across a wide range of sectors and markets.

“Working alongside Steve Williams and our programme, project and cost management specialists, Graham will provide senior leadership across our engineering and environmental infrastructure teams. He will help us bring collective expertise to clients more effectively, providing joined-up support from the earliest technical decisions through to the delivery of their projects.”
