Eastleigh Borough Council – One Horton Heath Hampshire

Delivering sustainable infrastructure for a thriving community

THE ASPIRATION
An ambitious vision for sustainable living
Eastleigh Borough Council’s One Horton Heath is an ambitious mixed-use development in Hampshire, set to deliver 2,500 homes, a vibrant local centre, a primary school, sports facilities, commercial hubs and expansive green spaces for wildlife and recreation. Central to the project is the council’s innovative ‘Infrastructure First’ strategy, which prioritises the early delivery of roads, utilities and community amenities, ensuring that residents benefit from these vital services right from the start.

OUR RESPONSE
Civil engineering expertise

Ridge provided Civil Engineering expertise to support the delivery of Eastleigh Borough Council’s ‘Infrastructure First’ vision. We helped secure planning and technical approvals for key infrastructure components, including roads, drainage, utilities and landscaping.
Working closely with the council, our team designed and delivered critical infrastructure across the wider site – from new roads, footpaths and cycleways to sustainable drainage systems and green spaces. We shaped the project’s Design Code, embedding a unified vision that integrates existing tree belts, hedgerows and watercourses with biodiversity enhancements and public realm features.

Thoughtful landscaping tied these elements together, enhancing sustainability and ecological value. We also proudly contributed to social value initiatives, including school talks, mock interviews and student placements at Ridge.

THE RESULT
Laying the foundations for growth

We delivered high-quality designs for essential infrastructure and successfully guided the project through key planning milestones. Our efforts established a unified design approach and a solid foundation for the site’s infrastructure and community-focused amenities.

THE LASTING IMPACT
Better living, greener future

Our work has helped Eastleigh Borough Council bring their vision for One Horton Heath to life, creating a sustainable, accessible and welcoming development. By delivering essential infrastructure early, the project improves residents’ wellbeing while advancing the council’s ambitious goals for housing, community and sustainability. Our social value contributions have also left a lasting impact, inspiring local students and communities while fostering valuable skills for the future.
