The Trafford Park Line is a 5.5km extension of Manchester’s Metrolink network, adding six new stops to improve access to key employment, retail and leisure destinations.
We played a key role in bringing the Trafford Park Line from construction into live service under operator Keolis Amey Metrolink (KAM).
Seamless project management
Our project management team worked closely with KAM at every level – from the Board of Directors to technical teams and supply chain partners – helping turn the new route into a fully operational part of Manchester’s network.
A key responsibility was developing the Operational Readiness Plan, preparing each department within KAM for launch. We led workstreams on resources, training, equipment, health and safety and IT, so everything was in place for a smooth, safe opening. Through practical, workshop-based planning, we linked strategic goals with day-to-day needs and ensured the new line fitted naturally into existing services.
A fully integrated line
Our planning and coordination ensured the Trafford Park Line opened without disruption. The extension now connects major employment, business, retail and leisure destinations to the wider network, improving accessibility and supporting regional growth. All operational, technical and compliance needs were met.
Boosting connectivity and driving regional growth
The Trafford Park Line now offers a reliable, sustainable travel option for thousands of passengers, reducing car use and strengthening access to some of Greater Manchester’s busiest destinations. Our project management support helped KAM deliver a major upgrade – one that will support regeneration, economic opportunity and smoother journeys for years to come.
