Donington Park needed a full circuit resurfacing that could improve performance without disrupting the upcoming racing season.

The challenge was delivering complex works safely and accurately within a tight off-season programme.

Delivering a high-pressure resurfacing programme

Working within a live motorsport environment meant every stage of the programme demanded careful coordination.

We delivered civil engineering and race track design services, working closely with Aggregate Industries and MotorSport Vision throughout the 22-day resurfacing programme. More than 6,500 tonnes of asphalt were replaced, with up to 100 people on site during peak activity.

Our team supported sequencing, technical delivery and quality assurance throughout the works, helping to maintain programme momentum while ensuring the finished surface met performance expectations.

Improving grip, consistency and performance

Resurfacing one of the UK’s best-known circuits required more than simply replacing asphalt. The new surface needed to improve driver confidence and deliver consistent performance across different racing series.

Close collaboration between the client, contractor and design teams helped resolve issues quickly and maintain quality throughout the programme.

The finished surface delivered a clear improvement in grip, with early British Superbike Championship data showing lap times more than a second faster than previous records.

Supporting the future of the circuit

The resurfacing has helped extend the long-term usability of Donington Park while improving the experience for competitors and organisers alike.

The result is a circuit ready for the demands of modern motorsport, delivered within a tightly controlled programme window and without disruption to the racing calendar.
